PH.111 LOW SPEED WOBBLES.

We are sending to you herewith some parts for increasing the friction of the cross steering tube joints to overcome low speed wobbles.

The parts consist of -

(1) Four modified upper ball pads.

(2) Four special washers for applying spring load to above pads.

(3) Four plain washers for packing up springs (Standard 0.500 washers) to increase load.

The packing up of the springs is a temporary expedient pending the manufacture of stronger springs.

Care should be taken to see that the springs are not going choc-a-bloc.

The friction of the cross steering tube joints with these parts should be 3 - 4 lbs. measured at the opposite end of the tube and swinging the tube as it moves on the chassis. This measurement should be made with the tube removed from the chassis and is the only satisfactory way of obtaining the friction.

We attach a sketch of the arrangement of these parts.

We are very anxious to know whether this effects a complete cure under continental conditions.
