Contd. -3- EFCl/T14.10.24. Examination of these results will show that any of these coils will stand quite a big external gap without any trouble, and that each of the redmanol encased coils TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}2 and TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3 were at least equal to, if not better than the standard stabalite coil. This TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3 coil was removed from 7-GII on 28.5.24 and replaced on the same chassis on 7.7.24, its place being meanwhile taken by the standard stabalite coil. On the second time on 7-GII the coil covered 3331 miles satisfactorily. Also further thrashing tests were taken on this coil, together with TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}5 (see below) and the results were reported to be substantially the same for the two coils and satisfactory, the maximum external gap obtained on this coil being now .3". Then on 24.9.24 this coil was removed from 7-GII and bench temperature tested with coil TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1, as referred to under TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1 section above, see report WA.{Mr Wallis}85 herewith. At present the coil is waiting to be fitted to 40/50 chassis 98-NK for further running in ordinary circumstances. TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}4. This coil was received by us in January last, and was first put through the production test with satisfactory results. On 19.6.24 it was put on chassis 3-GII upon which it has remained to the present date, with entirely satisfactory results. The mileage covered to date is 7,365 . TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}5. This was received at the same time as TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}4 above and in like manner passed the production test satisfactorily. It was then bench temperature tested with coil TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1 in comparison with standard stabalite coil, as described in WA.{Mr Wallis}60 herewith, and previously referred to under TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1 section above. Finally it was put on chassis 7-GII on 24.9.24 and underwent the second thrashing test mentioned under TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3 above, with satisfactory results. The total mileage covered by this coil on 7-GII has been 801 . TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}6. This coil was also received at the same time as TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}4 above, and satisfactorily underwent the production test. On 19.6.24, it was sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} for 6-EX. In a note to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} we are enquiring as to its location. Contd. | ||
