44094 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}12/KW. 2nd November, 1934. The Adamant Engineering Co., Dallow Road, LUTON. Your Ref: FGM/AGS/CB. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Comndr. Matravers. We thank you for your letter of 1st inst., and note that the movement of the rocker shaft cannot be increased, but that you can supply us with a cam giving 3 1/4 turns of the wheel to 65° of rockershaft movement. We have decided to try a cam giving the above ratio and as we want this very urgently we will send the steering to you by road, probably next Tuesday. Will you please let us know the earliest date by which you can return the steering to us. We consider that we have not yet had sufficient experience with our present L.7 gear for us to consider trying roller bearings in the rockershaft. Similarly we feel that there is not yet sufficient matter for discussion to justify your coming to see us. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
