| R.R. 235 (20 H) (W 974. 19.10.11) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2078. Re Testing Rig for Valve Springs. TBB18/L151211. Mr Swetnam 15/12/11 Will you kindly arrange some scheme for running a set of valve springs in an engine body, for the purpose of testing these parts rapidly. The Committee suggest that the test could be arranged by rigging up an engine body with just the necessary parts, and running the camshaft at a high speed, say 1000 r.p.m. This would enable the springs to be given a test in a comparatively short time, which would be equivalent to several thousand miles of running on the road. The Springs to be tested in this instance are the new design with extra coils and the step washer. | ||
