re. BONNET FITTINGS - CLIPS & LOCKS.

Our older 40/50. bonnet clip and lock was not really up to RR. standard. Our 20HP. was better, but never sufficiently corrected, but as fitted to EAC. 7., when further corrected, could be made distinctly better.

I await with much interest our third model recently schemed at WW. I hope this will be tested at Derby very soon. It should be carefully criticised, and if necessary corrected, or abandoned in favour of an improved 20HP., as the critics think best.

LOCK.

The design of lock requires some further work before we construct it experimentally. There seem many weak features, and some shortcomings. It should stay on the drawing board, and I will also send my criticisms in about two days. In the meantime see what you can do to make it more robust, or an improved scheme. Something should control on the lock barrel exactly one turn.
