The idea that occurred to me for this work was that it should be on the rewinding principle used in large turret clocks, but in which case the rewinding need only take place at long intervals of 5 or 10 minutes instead of half minutes. This scheme would have the advantage that if the clock was stopped the maintaining spring would be rewound and the circuit broken.
