1025 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}2/BA.24.1.40. 33.G.VII - Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s Car. We collected this car yesterday from Duffield, through Starter Motor failure. The cause of the motor failing was a broken armature pinion gear. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} has had this sent to the Lab. for examination. This is our first failure of this kind, but, we understand the Aero section have met similar trouble and now crack test to avoid failure. We also found that the petrol filler extension which passes through the wing had not been given sufficient clearance between filler and tyre to allow for snow chains. For although they just cleared on the straight, they fouled when the body rolled on corners. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} | ||
