1293 SECRET. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. File Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}7/JH.8.3.40. Gordon Armstrong Shock Dampers. Senior Range. We have already issued to you PL.107 shewing the large size of Gordon Armstrong shock damper mounted in front of the rear axle. At your request we have revised this scheme in order to shorten the lever arm and to increase the angular movement of the lever. On PL.145 of which we enclose two prints, we show the proposed modifications to PL.107. The lever arm has been reduced from 9.600 ins. to 7.900 ins. which increases the angular movement from 66° to 76°. The maximum angular movement of the damper is 80°. In accordance with your request the rebound has been reduced from 6.000 in. to 5.000 ins. measured from the fully loaded position. The fabric rebound strap has been equipped with a rubber buffer moulded on. This damper is to be fitted to Ripplet. Chassis 2.R.2. and also Rippletto. Enclosures. 2 Prints of PL.145. 4 copies of memo. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
