re LANDAULETTE BODIES FOR EXPERIMENTAL CARS.

In connection with memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG27.2.20, I note Mr. Hives suggests that Derby order two new Landaulette Bodies, or alternatively, one landaulette and one cabriolet. I agree with Mr. Hives that a cabriolet will test the chassis more severely than the landaulette. Also, I think the cabriolet is likely to be even more popular than the landaulette with our customers in future.

Barkers have a cabriolet secondhand body in pretty good condition for which they ask, I think, £200.

Lawton Goodman have a secondhand landaulette body made by Barkers ex 1300 type chassis. This appears to me to be in good condition and not likely to rattle. It is, however, oldfashioned; Mr. Hives says he does not like oldfashioned bodies.

I think it is a matter purely of time; they will not get a new body under about six months. Secondhand bodies can be made usable in a very short time.

Regarding the Pullman limousine body which Mr. Hives also requires, Barkers are at present at work on this. We do not know how many open touring cars Derby will require to complete their fleet. There is a secondhand body for sale at Barkers in good condition, if they require another one.

The point for you to decide is, should Derby order the two new bodies mentioned at the foot of Mr. Hives' note or should they buy the secondhand cabriolet at Barkers' as part of their programme and one new landaulette?

This I suggest would meet the case if Derby can wait for the new landaulette.
