Minutes of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s. visit to Suash Court - Feb. 7th.1940

(1) Senior Range Engine Programme.

It was agreed that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} requires only the following :-

4 crankcases.
2 cylinder heads. 3½ 3¾ bore.
2 crankshafts for the 6 cylinder, one with R.R. front end and one with Humber.

It was agreed that the cylinder heads for the 75ø m.m. 6 cylinder and the 3¾ 6 cylinder be left for the time being, also the crankshaft for the 75 m.m.

(2) Marine.

The installation drawing of the Marine cast iron 8 cylinder engine is to be produced giving information usually shown on such drawings by our competitors.

This will enable us to obtain a reaction of the Boat Builders to our projects.

(3) 3 cylinder 2 stroke Deisel.

The preliminary projects by Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} are to wait until pm. communicates with Mr. Salmonds and Mr. Taub.

(4) Petrol Tanks.

It was accepted that if we are to make our petrol tanks of the same gauge material as those on American cars namely, 22 gauge, the carcase of our tanks should be no heavier than theirs. In fact we should be lighter because our shape is more economical.

When our tanks with fittings are much heavier than theirs it is due to the following :-
