RE : FIRST EXPERIMENTAL PHANTOM II FOR R.R.A.I.

We note that a body for the above car is needed for mounting on April 3rd.

If Sales can find a stock body for the R.H. chassis the necessary modifications to the front subframe crossmember could be made at Derby before mounting to make it suitable for the L.H. chassis.

If Sales can find a body of the 18-EX or 1-WJ type we suggest that such a body would be a good one. Failing that we suggest that we take a standard six-seater enclosed limousine as made for "D" Steering and mount it on a chassis with "E" steering. The fact that the wheel of the latter is .750" further from the dash could be allowed for in the squabbing.

They must have "E" Steering and these are the two types of body in which they are most interested.

In fact we believe that we can make such a good job of a body obtained in this way that it will be unnecessary to build two more bodies especially for the L.H. experimental chassis but only one.

In a way it would be better to buy the enclosed limousine from stock and to build the close coupled car, as a replica of the car now in Egypt.

Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} would like to have a look at the body chosen before the matter is settled to make certain that it will fit the chassis, and he would make a special visit to London that that purpose.
