X4622 Extract from CWH2/RP23.8.26. REPORT ON CHASSIS 12-EX, FAC.8 AFTER 9000 MILES. Electrical Fittings. X.878C, X.4105. Distribution board and cutout D box modified with C type contacts, rigid backing, rigid fixed contact point support and Reynold contacts. (.150" nickel) similar to D.Sch.352 otherwise to L.C.P. D.7088C. The cutout is in very good condition. There does not appear to be any sign of burning of the contact points. It has operated satisfactory throughout the test. Lucas head lamps, side and tail lamps. The O.S. side lamp does not stay tightened up at the swivel joint. We have dismantled it and think that a locking nut should be provided. The head lamps are in our opinion poor for night driving. Battery X.4617B. Battery fitted with half Exide and half P & R cells. We confirm that the Exide cells are better for retaining the acid, more clearance is necessary in the case. We have not had to add much water throughout the test as there has been less overcharging and consequently less evaporation. We have run half the mileage each day not charging. The condition of battery at finish of test is good. Densities were correct in each cell i.e. S.P.G. 1240. Elliott Ammeter No.140893. X.4622. The ammeter has functioned correctly and has remained in good condition. | ||
