Contd :- -2- Our tests indicate that there is less tendency to 'gum up' with large groove clearance than with small. A probable explanation is that increased clearance allows more movement of the ring to prevent building up a film of We are now making tests to show how the gumming tendency is influenced by weak and stiff piston rings.
