THE R.A.C. T.T. RACE
Continued

Bradshaw's Brae—and a fine scrap between the smallest cars in the race. In front is P. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Prenter Davies (Balilla Fiat) leading Norman Black (Singer) who crashed higher up, and S. C. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Davis (Singer) who somersaulted on top of Black's wreckage. Behind comes a third Singer, driven by A.{Mr Adams} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Langley, who also crashed on the Brae.

Left Column:
team crash within a few hundred yards and one looped the loop on top of another. The accidents to all three Singers were caused by a similar breakage in each case, and were apparently due to a fault in the heat treatment of the metal used for the racing 10s.
At this juncture the remaining Singer (J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Barnes) was flagged at Comber and instructed to take it easy back to the pits, where the car was withdrawn.
Hall's job was to make 34 1/2 secs. per lap on Dixon, and Freddie opened up a little in consequence, 5 mins. 38 1/2 secs. ahead.
Dixon turned in a new 1,500 c.c. lap record on two successive laps, averaging 79.44 m.p.h.—and this un-drawn. On the 29th lap the order was Dixon, Hall, Paul and Lord Howe. On the 30th, Dixon, Hall, Brackenbury and Penn-Hughes.
These last were lapping steadily in very close company, never more than 2 secs. separating them.
Hall was losing ground now. His debt to Dixon was increased to 36 secs. per lap.
Howe was back in sixth place, driving like the veteran he is. Dodson was doing great things, farther back, swinging the big Lagonda along with the same verve as with the winning Magnette last year, Aston-Martins were still intact for the team prize, but the Fiat team was not so hearty.

Dixon Gains Five Seconds on Hall
With five laps to go Dixon was another 5 secs. from Hall (on handicap, of course) and Hindmarsh had another pit stop to clear a choked fuel pipe. Howe was coming up wonderfully well.
Came the loudest applause of the day. Stands, officials and every pit staff leaped and cheered. Powys-c22

Right Column:
Lap by lap, with four to go, the Hall-Dixon battle went on, and Lord Howe was coming up into third place. At 4.30 Hall was 2 mins. 53 secs. behind, on handicap, and Howe was firmly third. Hall's speed for the whole race so far was 80.31 m.p.h. Howe's, 79.53 m.p.h. Dixon's, 77.23 m.p.h.
Hall was powerless. The gap was too great. Dixon entered his last lap with Hall pounding away behind snatching a split second on every corner.
On the last lap Dixon roared through Comber with Hall nearing the Moate, flat out, 2 mins. behind him, flew through Ballystockart as Hall passed Comber, swirled round Dundonald with the Bentley howling through the bends of Ballymiscawl, and just after the two Lagondas had gone through in line ahead now seventh and eighth, Dixon came thundering up the road and braked over the line winner of the 1935 Tourist Trophy. The crowd came to its feet and roared applause.
Hardly had he departed on his extra lap than the Bentley came thundering past flat out, Hall's arm raised in a sort of Nazi salute. For the second year, and if the same car he was second—last year at 78.41 m.p.h. by 17 secs., this year at 80.36 m.p.h. by 1 min. and 13 secs.
Tumultuous cheering greeted Lord Howe, third, and the two wonderful Aston-Martins fourth and fifth exactly a second apart after 478 miles racing.
Lybbe's gallant Alvis broke a piston and he had to push it from the course. The warmth of sympathy must have consoled him for the blow.

D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Evans in a similar car, with an Aston-Martin in the rear. Seaman and Evans finished 10th and 11th at 75.03 m.p.h. and 69.83 m.p.h. respectively. (Above) C. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Manders (995 c.c. f.w.d. Adler) leading A.{Mr Adams} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Langley round this dangerous corner—Quarry Corner. Behind comes another Adler, two Singers and a Fiat.

Incident at Glen Hill: Charlie Dodson (4½-litre Lagonda) thundering up Glen Hill flat out, shaved the bank, and his rear wheel knocked a rock clean out of the bank. The rear of the car leapt into the air, but with consummate coolness Dodson brought the big car back on to its course and continued without reducing his speed. c23
