1262 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}11/MH.{M. Huckerby} Experimental Dept. 5th. July 1938. J.A.Daniell, Esq., Messrs. Hardy Spicer & Co. Ltd., Witton, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Mr.Daniell, We are sending to you a propellor shaft which has failed on our dynamometer test. It appears that after running short of lubricant the needles failed and this caused the coupling to break. Admittedly this failure did not occur on the road, but our own propellor shafts which have a large reservoir of grease have often stood a very considerably longer test. We should like to have your comments on the failure. Yours sincerely, | ||
