-2- obtain the reason for squeaking. We have not been able to cure it so far by attention to the bijur, and the shackle pin shows abundance of oil. GEARBOX. We have given this another full torque test on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and reverse gears, with no sign of any gears coming out of mesh. RE. LOSS OF OIL FROM ENGINE. We have obtained very satisfactory results re. the above, since fitting the breather pipe to the rocker cover. In 100 miles we collected approx. 4 ccs. In 250 miles this morning, there was none. We have altered the intake for the breather in the carburetter silencer, as a certain amount of oil drained down the outside. We found that the design of the silencer did not let the breather go into the air stream, and there was a cavity which collected the oil. We have therefore drilled the inner pipe and let our breather go through and into the air stream, any oil that is drawn in will therefore be taken into the engine. We will substantiate these results after the mileage this afternoon. G.W.H. | ||
