Recommendation on the manufacturing sequence for pressing bushes into shock absorber casings to prevent bore distortion.

Will you please note, we find that if the bushes are pressed in to the shock absorber casings after the bores are ground, they distort these bores badly. The bushes must be made a tight fit or leakage is likely to occur round the outside diameter. We therefore recommend that the bushes be pressed in before the grinding of the cylinder.
