- 3 - lever on the supposition that the scheme outlined can be brought to fruition we think the ignition lever should be washed out at the same time. We cannot however yet see our way clearly through the problems which arise in connection with obtaining sufficient retard for safe hand starting, at the same time as providing the right amount of advance for all operational running conditions, but we are working on this problem now and we hope to solve it by combining suction control with the present speed governer for the ignition. By introducing the suction control scheme we should obtain an advantage we do not enjoy now of being able to secure additional advance when the engine is run on intermediate throttle positions which should result in improved petrol consumption, lower average valve temperature, cleaner engine running etc. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
