Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Experimental Department, DERBY. For the attention of L.H. Swindall, Esq. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your Advice Note, informing us that you have despatched one set of main bearings comprising 4-E.60914/5, 2-EB.613, 1-EB.291, to Messrs. Walker Bros. (Wigan) Ltd. We are to-day in receipt of a letter from this firm, of which the following is a quotation:- "We have received from you the three blue-prints of Rolls-Royce bearings, which bearings have now come to hand. Upon examination of same we find the packing note WG{Mr Gill - Financial Director}/F.24044 states 4-E.60914/5 main bearings, 2-EB.613 main bearings, 1-EB.291 main bearings, whereas the labels attached to the bearings are marked E.60914/5-quantity 8, we have received 4 only, EB.613-quantity 2, received 2, EB.791-quantity 1, received 1. The drawing numbers are E.60914, EB.614, EB.791. In the first place the quantities do not agree and secondly the drawing numbers, labels and packing notes do not agree, neither do the shells agree with the drawings now in our possession. We shall be pleased if you will have this matter gone into and let us have your further instructions with correct drawings, so that we can proceed with the work." Perhaps you will kindly write direct to Messrs. Walker Bros., in order to clear up the discrepancy they mention. Yours faithfully, S W Morgan HEAD OF RESEARCH DEPARTMENT. HLE/GLD. | ||
