x6092. S/W To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Vibrator Controlled Dynamo Systems. Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/MA.17.3.33 and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.6/MA.17.3.33, I have noted with interest all you say in the former memo, relative to the advantages which are likely to accrue from the standardisation of vibrator controlled dynamos. It does seem to me a great pity that the vibrator control on 58-GW was sent out in a condition of adjustment which was quite hopeless. I cannot understand how this came about, i.e. why the fact that it would not under any conditions charge at more than about 5 amps. was not seen at Derby before it left. We noticed this fact right away but naturally we assumed that it was correct for it to operate in that manner. It was fitted up on this car in order to obtain some experience and, instead of having had about three months useful test under London conditions, it really means that the test has been useless. I was again let down on Sunday evening with the battery in a state of inability to turn the engine sufficiently fast to start. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
