TELEPHONE: LYMINGTON 520 (5 LINES) TELEGRAMS: WELLWORTHY CODE: MARCONI YOUR REF Attention of W.A.Robotham, Esq. 10th December, 1939 Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Robotham, We have just received a communication from Nuffield Mechanizations Ltd., from which it would appear that Mr. Luyks states that if we wish to do anything with them regarding bearings we should let them have a sight of the forked type bearing which we stated was used by Rolls Royce, as they are now reaching finality on these points, and it will be too late if we do not move immediately in an attempt to get AC.9 bearings established on these Tank Engines. Mr. Luyks and Mr. Baird state that if they have received no further information regarding the forked and connecting rod, as mentioned by me in a letter to them dated the 2nd December, and in your letter to me dated the 2nd December you mention that you propose to ring up Mr. Luyks and ask him to come over and see the various forms of big end bearings which you have made. I would therefore assume from Mr. Baird's and Mr. Luyks remarks that nothing has happened regarding this job, and they seem to be rather disappointed. Would it be possible for you to let Mr. Salt or one of your other staff go along to Nuffield Mechanization and show what has been done to Mr. Luyks, as this would definitely clinch the job. We shall be pleased to know what you can do in this direction. Yours sincerely, F.W. Skelcher | ||
