Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of the 24th ult, we beg to say that we have examined the Contact Breaker No. T.9731, and find the points damaged through the combustion of petrol vapour occurring inside the cam cage.

The fitting of one of the latest type of ventilated contact breaker cover will overcome the difficulty, and we will send one of these with the contact breaker as soon as the new points have been fitted.

The damage, which is quite different from that caused by ordinary wear, would not be prevented by the fitting of larger platinum points.

The number of platinum points we supply for replacements for magnetos used on cars of your manufacture is quite small, and we do not think any alteration in the diameter or thickness is necessary.

When you have had an opportunity of observing the contact breaker in use with the ventilated cover you will, we feel sure, find the amount of wear is quite normal.

Yours faithfully,
For NORTH & SONS LIMITED.

(Sgd) H.P. Brown.
