(2) Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} criticised the front apron and rear screen, in both cases they did not suit him because there was not a slight curve to prevent vibrations being set up, the Works never did what they instructed. With regard to 25-EX., R.{Sir Henry Royce}, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, and myself had a long talk about the torque reaction dampers and the radiator mounting. I showed E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} the new torque reaction dampers that A.{Mr Adams} was bringing out, and they were identical, with the exception of the double anchorage of the centre plate, to the drawings which he had des-patched to the Works the previous night. He therefore had literally forestalled him in the design. With regard to the radiator mounting which we used on 25-EX., very much queried it, but afterwards, with slight modifications, he was willing to accept the scheme. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} as per usual said we had not tried out his schemes. I told him that it was impossible with the Diamond mounting to fit the buffers behind the radiator.
