-3- CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL TO LOP.G.81043. M.SCH.3926. 3531. 3934. Clutch with fabrics on driven member. External clutch adjustment. The engagement of the clutch has been on the jaggering side, and is not as smooth as standard. It is very slow in stopping, and many times the gears have had to be forced in. The wear of the clutch fabrics has been little. The clutch pedal was set to 6.250" from the dashboard at the start and is now 6.375". SERVO MOTOR MECHANISM LOP.G.80427 - GL.{G. Linnett}700 The servo has given no trouble and its efficiency has been maintained. Upon examination it would not have retained its efficiency for long as the fabrics had worn down level to the steel rim. The design allows for further wear providing that the friction ring is running true with the outer plates. In this case it has not been doing so and had started to rub on the steel flanges. The clearance should be made greater to allow for small inaccuracies in alignment, or the recess sides tapered. The bearing in the bridge is in excellent condition and no slackness is noticeable. There has been a fair amount of scrubbing action on the three driving pins. GEARBOX & ACTUATING GEAR LOP.G.80436. M.SCH.3936. R.R.SCH.591. The gears have retained their standard for silence when engaged. Ease of change has been good. Slackness in the third motion shaft bearing must have been caused by the locking of the propeller shaft joints. The slackness has not increased. The box has been free from oil leaks; it has not been necessary to add any oil. LARGE TYPE CARBURETTER LOP.E.84480. LEC.3423. 2.3/8 SEMI EXPANDING. There has been no further trouble with the throttle sticking as reported during the first 5000 miles. The metering with MS.1281 4° 16' is satisfactory. With a weaker needle fitted there is a period of luffing. The MS.1281 needle is not 100% with regard to luffing, but it is of such a small amount that it cannot be produced at will, and has only occurred occasionally. CARBURETTER AIR SILENCER LOP.E.84469. The air intake end has not again worked loose after tightening the joint up. The breather as explained has been deleted. | ||
