To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from B.J. BJ17/H10.10.23. X9720 S E C R E T. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. With reference to our conversation yesterday, we agree that the E.A.C.1 engine only may be fitted to our present standard chassis, and when it is ready a Sales representative shall be sent to examine this chassis alongside a standard chassis, with a view to ascertaining whether there is any possible exterior difference. If there is no difference, the car could be taken on the road for test purposes, provided the bonnet is first locked and the key left at the Works, so that the bonnet cannot be opened when the car is outside the Works. The car will be kept in your 'holy of holies' when it is not on the road. The chauffeur will be instructed that he must on no account put the car in any garage or place where it might be examined, and must of course not speak of it to any person, even an employee of R.R. Ltd. In the event of the car breaking down, the bonnet should not be opened outside the Works, but the car should be towed. B.J. | ||
