RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X7010. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AD4.11.31. 25-EX CRANKSHAFT. With reference to the crankshaft on this car. We should like the sludge taken from Nos. 2 and 5 crankpins and let us have them back in the two tins which we hand you herewith. The remaining crankpins we wish to be left exactly as they are and the engine to be built up with new main bearings and new connecting rod bearings when we propose to run it another 20,000 miles. The object of the test is to see whether the sludge in these crankshaft pins will eventually block the lubricating holes up or whether the oil will always get a clear path to the big ends.
