| - 2 - Incidentally, we have tried the effect of grinding the small flat on the centre main journal immediately in front of the contact line, as shown on a journal after high speed runs, and although this would in all probability tend to spread the lubricant rather better across the face of the bearing, it has not apparently made as much improvement as that which we obtained when we machined an oil groove along the joint line of the bearing itself.
