E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Harvey Bailey, Esq.,
Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd,
DERBY.

Your Order No. 8708.

Dear Mr Bailey,

I am writing you with reference to your Company's Order No 8708, which asks us to alter a pair of 1100 lb Rear Springs to a free Camber of 9.75", also to supply a pair of Rear Springs having 12" Positive Camber, and also a further set of Springs with an 8" Camber.

I do not think that I can do better than submit to you a letter I have received from Mr Stanfield in connection with these modifications, and before placing the work in hand we should naturally like you to go into the matter and let us have your instructions. It would also be as well to bear in mind that in the event of an alteration to the thicknesses of the main leaves, this would either necessitate fresh Dies being made for upsetting the solid eyes, or grinding our present leaves down to the required thickness. This latter I take it, in the case of these odd Springs, would be far the cheaper, and probably as satisfactory.

Yours faithfully,

M Burnett
