COPY. ROLLS - ROYCE OF AMERICA INC. Springfield, Mass. August 29, 1924. Mr. E.W. Hives, Experimental Engineer, Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. England. Re VEEDOL. Dear Mr. Hives, Have just had a very interesting talk with Mr. Waerner, of the Tide Water Oil Company, makers of Veedol. He tells me that they are now marketing this in England through the British Mineral Oil Products Ltd. who are in contact with the Derby Works. We have used and tested Veedol for some years. Originally we recommended "Special Heavy" grade for summer, and "Heavy" for winter, but now recommend "Heavy" all the year round, having found that ordinary summer temperatures do not make much difference to the running of the engine, thanks to the various points of our design. Both of the above oils are straight mineral, which has hitherto chiefly been used on the American market. The use of "Forzol" designed for Fords, is now growing in this country and represents 50% of the business of the Tide Water Oil Company. The Tide Water Oil Company is a large and reputable concern operating 4500 wells in Pennsylvania, and with very wide distribution in the United States. With kind regards, Yours very truly, Rolls-Royce Co. of America. Maurice Olley. Chief Engineer. | ||
