RE STRAIGHT SIDED TYRES

With reference to C7/C12122, we have wired you as follows, confirming the fact that we consider straight sided tyres satisfactory in all the points referred to in paragraph (1).

ROLHEADRolls-Royce telegram address. REG.

COWAN RE STRAIGHT SIDED TYRE SETTLEMENT AGREE POINTS MENTION PARAGRAPH ONE C7/C12122, HAVE ALL BEEN PASSED SATISFACTORILY STOP STANDARDISATION SHEET IS FULLY SIGNED UP BY SALES AS WELL AS WORKS.

BAILEY. HIVES.

We wish to point out that the standardisation sheet in connection with the use of straight sided tyres and wire wheels suitable for same was completed on 6.8.21, and issued on 8.8.21, and has been fully signed up by all Officials both at Works and Sales responsible for signing same.

In view of the standardisation sheet being in existence I think that this should fully cover any points which you may have in your minds, as before issuing the standardisation sheet considerable testing had been done in connection with the wheels and tyres, and when the standardisation sheet in question was issued reports from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, were attached to same giving all the facts of the case.

We are putting the facts of the case clearly forward to enable the various officials to make up their minds whether the change was desirable or not.

Your memo C7/C12122 only reached us at 4.30 this afternoon - I mention this in case you may think it was delayed at the Works.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}
