I understand that this is satisfactory as regards specific gravity and strength even to fairly high temperatures, but is still shewing difficulty of casting, and has not behaved well under high temperature conditions. I am not sure whether the trouble with cylinder heads is due to original porosity in the casting, or whether it is due to changes occurring in the alloy due to it being exposed to the explosive gases or high temperature. It is understood however that in any case it will still be extremely useful for saving weight on parts not exposed to temperature, and it also forges well.
