To RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} c. Ha/TMW. c. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD. X410573 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T4.6.25. X.4105B - CUTOUT CONTACT SPRINGS WITH NARROWED DOWN NECKS. These three springs with necks of .125", .137" and .150" have been fitted respectively to 98-NK, 44-PK and 6-GII. We are asking the D.O. to arrange for all cutouts on production to have a rigid fixed contact point support. The present support gives a little bit laterally and somewhat defeats the possibility of obtaining a rubbing contact in any case. As these experiments appear of more value where this contact support is absolutely rigid, and that it is now intended to have a rigid support in any case, we should be pleased if you would arrange straight away to give rigidity to the supports on the chassis concerned, which are the three 98-NK, 44-PK and 6-GII mentioned. We ourselves gave rigidity to the cutout fixed contact point support on GF.68 by sweating in a rib, and your man who does the job may like to inspect this, though any way which is suitable to you and which gives the same result will be O.K.
