EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/I.II.32. NOVEMBER Ist. 1932. Messrs Park Ward & Co. Ltd. 473, High Road, Willesden. N.W.10. Dear Sirs, RE BODIES FOR EXPERIMENTAL CARS. We have decided that the Six Light Saloon for Bentley "A" shall be finished all black with a fine white line. The leather shall be brown furniture hide and the trimmings and carpet to blend. These should be the same as used in the Stock Saloon for the 25HP. The same remark applies/the the finishers. You will have received my report on the body in Derby, and will no doubt overtake as many of the troubles on the remaining bodies as possible. I hope to call on you later in the week to go over all the details. Derby are sending to you a complete set of wheels for the Four Door Close Coupled Saloon which should be stove enamelled the lighter shade of Mole. This is Bentley "A". We understand that you have been sent a set of wheels for the Bentley "B". These are for the open body and should be stoved re to match the leather chosen. You have also received two dummy hubs for Bentley "B", so you are now in a position to complete both bodies. This is of value to us as Derby will soon have two chassis ready. We suggest that you finish the bodies off without delay when we will collect them. In the meantime we would be glad if you could send us a full-size plan and centre section of the floor and boards supporting the front seats of the Saloon as this would help us to design a gastight cover around the gearbox. The sloping floor of the wells should be shewn. The photographs of the Bentley "B" were very much appreciated by the officials in Derby. They have done much to create a lively interest in the car. Yours faithfully, for Rolls-Royce Ltd. H.I.F.Evernden. | ||
