BENTLEY CHASSIS - RE: BEVEL PINION DOUBLE PURPOSE MAIN BEARING. ------------------------------------------------------ It is very evident from what Mr. Grylls is telling me that the adjusting washers which are made in mild steel are wearing in the assembly. We cannot increase the interference fit of the bearing. It therefore appears to be necessary to make these pieces in case hardened steel, the depth of carburisation after finishing should be .015.
