To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X7430 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG7.12.27. EAC. 7. STEERING. X7450 With reference to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/ML.12.27. The immediate disadvantage which we incur when fitting the short pendulumlever is loss of lock because already the worm and nut come up against the stops in the box on full lock if the driver chooses to compress the springs in the side steering tube to the utmost. This is due to the increased movement we now allow in the side steering tube springs and we think provision should be made for it before the .900 box is finally standardised. Naturally, if the 7.5" pendulum lever is likely to be standardised, the alteration required will be appreciable. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
