In addition to the 40 m/m Claudel Hobson carburetter which we propose to try on our engine, we send you the particulars of the arrangement we have worked out ourselves, which is the best of many arrangements, and is fairly light and simple, and ought to give the following requirements. Easy starting, with or without flooding. Good running at 300 revolutions, at which speed the propeller has very little resistance, this being on the pilot jet. With full throttle at this 300 revolutions the engine should take an explosive mixture, extra air being practically shut, and the whole charge coming past the jet. During accelerations from 300 to 1600, extra air gradually opens automatically, keeping the mixture suitable for full power, and giving at full speed good economy. The carburetter is also arranged for a long suction pipe below it, to prevent the possibility of the carburetter getting alight. It is a straight through job as it is possible to make, and has an efficient venturi passage past the jet. The whole is very simple and light, and should | ||
