BENTLEY - FITTING LARGER OIL PUMP IN ACCORDANCE WITH Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/R.7.7.37.

The fitting of the above has been the cause of too great an oil consumption. To overcome this fault it is necessary to :-

(1). Close up the oil hole in the connecting rod, which was added to provide cylinder wall lubrication under starting and cold running conditions. This is not necessary with the larger pump and the type of piston originally fitted.

(2). Fit stiffer scraper ring to drawing EB.3122.

(3). The new piston with reduced running clearances on the skirt to EB.3151must not be fitted, it must only be used in engines where it was fitted on production.
