M9.5.31 regarding the above.
You have received from Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} his memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Evl/

You will of course bear in mind we have already requested that you will not give us these set-in brake levers, as we see no demand for it, and coachbuilders are definitely against it. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, in his memo, says:-

"In order to provide this clearance the bodies are wider at the "back of the scuttle than a good design would call for to provide "this clearance.

Our answer to that is that our bodies are none too wide now in the front post on this type of chassis, and we cannot afford to sacri-fice any more space in width in that part of it.

We merely, therefore, reiterate it is our wish that this brake lever should remain as it now is.

Will DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} kindly note that we made a very careful examination of 18-G-4, which was supposed to have the brake lever in the cranked in position, and found that the brake lever on this car was perfectly standard and was apparently in that position when PS tried it and signified his approval.
