660. W/S. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} c. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/DH.{D. Henderson - Showroom} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}7/R.28.11.38. WRAITH RIDE - WXA-5. With reference to memos Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}2/KW.9.11.38. and Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/DH.{D. Henderson - Showroom}8/ES.15.11.38., we tried this car over the week-end and made certain modifications. The complaint about this car was that the ride was harsh. We fitted a pressure gauge to the damper unit, and found that @ 10 m.p.h., ride control set to 'soft', we were getting a reading of 20 lbs/sq.in. instead of 1 1/2 lbs/sq.in. This would completely account for the harshness. We set the governor pressure to standard and tried the car on the road. The ride was soft and there was no pitching with the control set at minimum; at maximum setting the ride was appreciably harder. We have accordingly returned the car to Lillie hall to-day, Monday. The production cars have the governor unit pressures checked twice; once after assembly of the unit on the bench, and again when fitted to the car in the Test Dept. The error on this car was probably due to its previous history. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
