X1487 Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}5/KW. 24th September, 1934. T.C. Skinner Esq., The S.U. Company Ltd., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM 8. Dear Mr. Skinner, We are still experiencing trouble with Bentley Carburetters flooding, despite the fact that they have the latest type needles and seatings. We think that probably the trouble is in the float mechanism. One point we have found is that some of the floats supplied do not float vertically, but tend to roll over to the horizontal. If this is taking place in the float chamber we are getting a cross-binding effect on the centre stud, which may occasionally stick the float. However, perhaps you can arrange for someone to come over to discuss the matter. I believe some little while ago you were experimenting with a centrally pivoted float, in which case this will probably solve the trouble. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
