re. Deliveries of 40/50 HP. Chassis.

With reference to Sales memo C7/C8.10.24, under cover of your Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}7/MB.10.24. We quite agree that the deliveries of chassis during the last few weeks have been disappointing, but this, as you are aware, is due to the trouble with the Servo gear.

You are, I understand, being kept in close touch with the progress we are making in our investigations in conjunction with the Experimental Dept. and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} on this matter, and there now appears to be a move to effect some improvement in the way of application of friction. It is hoped this will enable us to be in a position to obtain sufficiently quiet servo mechanism to complete our final tests of cars at the rate of 10 per week.

I learn from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} that there does not appear now [handwritten insertion] to be any misunderstanding as regards quietness of our standard, but as explained to you on the telephone, I am hoping to get this confirmed while Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and myself are running the five or six cars which PN.{Mr Northey} is arranging to use for the Press Demonstration today and tomorrow.
