Dear Vandervell,

I would be glad if you would keep me in touch with the progress being made on the thin-layer Babbit steel bearing in the States.

We shall not change from the three-layer bearing for a long time, since any standardisation test takes us practically two years but we are interested in keeping abreast of general progress.

I believe we also are able to give you an approximate figure of merit for a bearing fairly rapidly.

We can accomodate different dimensions most easily on our big-end bearing and we send you a print of the present three-layer bearing, which we should like to replace with any new type.

I enclose a photograph of a little excursion we had last year. I believe I forgot to give you a print at the time.

We expect Sleator to be over in about ten days.

Yours sincerely,
