1212 To: Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/RH.{R. Hollingworth}19.6.41. With reference to the attached note from Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} I do not think that Park Ward could usefully do any work on air conditioning at the present moment. Air conditioning covers cleaning and cooling air. Cleaning is not difficult, cooling is very difficult. I went into the question the last time I was in America, and have since studied the work done by Packard. At a modest estimate, it means adding one hundred weight of somewhat complicated refrigerating plant to the chassis. To do this intelligently is beyond the capabilities of Park Ward. If Ward has any experimental capacity at the moment, there is any amount of work which he could usefully do which would be invaluable for post-war production. Amongst other things, he could produce a lightened standard type of B.V. body; he could try and complete a Corniche if a frame work sent over from Paris still exists and a coupe body to fit on the Myth chassis. The drawing work in connection with the rationalized production programme was going very slowly last time I was in London. One other outlet for Ward's energies would be to take advantage of the experience we had on the B.V. coupe to make a body incorporating these improvements in a production manner. I consider that Ward has done very well on the Myth parts that he has so far produced. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
