I saw Mr. Hawkins last week-end, and understand that he has now placed his order so hope you have got everything signed up. A friend of mine, Mr. Johnson of Lymme, (Cheshire) to whom I have given several runs, has at last placed an order through Messrs. Thrupp & Mabberley, and rang me up last night to see if he could have 4-wheel Jacks fitted. I know it is policy to discourage fitting 4-wheel Jacks but in this particular case maximum performance is a secondary consideration. I think he is going to ask for Smith's hydraulic Jacks which we shall have fitted to 5-B-IV, our new experimental car. We can therefore pass a verdict on them before he takes delivery. Mr. Bernard Hopps of Lodge Plugs was so dissatisfied generally with his body that I recommended him to get a new car. I heard from him yesterday to the effect that he has now done this. He was thinking of buying an H.J.Mulliner body, but in view of the improvements which Park Wards have effected I am going to persuade him to have a standard saloon. As I anticipated, Dick Summers' friends, hearing he is buying a new car, are beginning to follow his example. Neville Rollason tells me he has already placed an order, to take delivery in the third week in January. I have now seen the body fitted to Bentley 4, and am showing it to Mr. Thompson this week-end. I am sure it is exactly what he wants, and I can get the order settled as soon as he has sat in it. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
