1360 RE/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby} F.R. Banks, Esq., Messrs. Ethyl Export Corporation, Thames House, Millbank, London, S.W.1. 13th. October 1937. Dear Mr. Banks, We now have some results on the exhaust valves that you submitted to us some time ago for our trial. The three valves which we are despatching to you under separate cover, have the following history. No.1. The valve with a piece machined off the seat. This valve in (Sil XCR) has not been run in an engine and yet reveals cracks when crack tested. No.2. Complete valve with cracks in the head. This valve in (Sil XCR) has been run 50 hours endurance on one of our Bentley units. Is one of the same batch as No.1, and which you sent along in June as produced by Thompsons to our EB.2970 Drawing. You will see that this valve is cracked badly in the head, likewise the other two Sil.XCR valves which were run on this unit alongside of three of our standard KE.965 valves, the latter being OK. | ||
