We have replied:
SEND LETTER AUTHORIZING ME TO SIGN FOR CAR STOP THREE VOUCHERS - HANCOCK
We shall leave here Wednesday morning and should arrive Derby Thursday noon. The 5000 miles for the pistons will be finished in the morning, we are therefore going to dismantle the engine to investigate their condition. To-day the O.S. front wheel was creaking when the car returned at noon. We found it quite loose, serious trouble is developing with the rudge whitworth hubs. The cone is wearing hollow and corresponding wear is taking place on the cone of the wheel hub. There is quite a ridge worn on the wheel hub making it almost impossible to tighten the wheels up. All wheels are approx. the same. On the O.S.R. considerable backlash has developed on the serrations, the wheel after running can be rotated backwards and forward approx. one inch at the periphery of the tyre.
