In reply to your memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/CB8/6/20, kindly note two prints of N. scheme 385 were attached to your memo, but no print of N. scheme 379. However, Mr. Royce approves of the size of cones shewn on the former, but would like rather less metal left on the exposed shoulder of the ball stem, as he thinks that the cone is well backed up front and rear. He would also like the stem of the bolt portion reduced to the bottom of the thread for the sake of elasticity. Blue print is attached illustrating the foregoing. Mr. Royce further remarked that" the boss on the axle might be extended nearer to the ball itself with advantage." This, however, I think is impossible owing to the room required for the "U" bolts clamping the front springs.
