Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}15/AP. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY: 17th November, 1936. For the attention of F.J. Hardy, Esq: Dear Sirs, 25/30 H.P. CHASSIS - STEERING GEAR: FOLLOWER ROLLERS: With reference to your valued communication of the 11th instant, regarding the above, we note your remarks with respect to part M.22314 etc., and are holding this up pending your further instructions. With regard to the proposed increase in ball size etc. for print reference M.22168, we have great pleasure in enclosing copy of our drawing X.2737.C. outlining our suggestions on this, which we believe will be self-explanatory. One point in question arises with respect to the ball track diameter in the roller, it being noted that this tends to encroach upon the outside taper faces, and the question arises also as to whether a slightly extra width over the inners could be permitted on this assembly so as to give a more robust backing for the ball track on the inners. In other respects you will note that this design follows closely those we have previously offered, and we trust this will cover your immediate requirements. Yours faithfully, RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO. LTD. C. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Richardson GENERAL MANAGER. Enclosure Print: X.2737.C. | ||
