Provisional Air Ministry Specification D.T.D.172A.
High Tension Electric Ignition Cables.

We are in receipt of your F.11/JL.19.8.32., and we return herewith your copy of the above provisional specification.

We have given this our consideration, and we have no comments to make in respect to same as it stands.

Whilst revision of this specification is under consideration however, we should like to know whether there is any special reason for insisting that the dielectric is made from a pure rubber as there are several types of high tension cables at present on the market where the dielectric is made from artificial rubber and actually no rubber at all is used in the manufacture of same.

We have used one of these latter types of high tension cable for the last six years on our normal chassis production and generally speaking, we have found it to be at least equal and in some respects superior to the dielectric consisting of real rubber.
