SECRET. 600 HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. c to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst4/M.25.2.37. We wish to try out, on the second Wraith Chassis, a new type of Lucas combined regulator and cut-out unit, Type LR{Mr Ellor}7T. We have a suitable unit adjusted ready for this test and shall be glad if you will make arrangements, on the next chassis, to delete the R.R. combined cut-out and regulator unit and fit in its place on the dash-board, this new Lucas Unit. In this connection, it will be necessary to arrange for the dynamo to be fitted to this chassis to have its field winding connected to the negative brush instead of the positive. Details of this will be supplied. Also it will be necessary to modify the wiring from the distribution board to the cut-out and regulator unit and to the switchbox, and we are preparing a suitable wiring diagram covering this alternative. Will you please give instructions for this work to be carried out on the next Wraith Chassis. We save nearly 50% in the cost of the regulator and cut-out unit with this method and we feel that the reliability may be better than the existing C.A.V. Regulator which has given us a lot of trouble. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. | ||
